Recommended Setup Order

Install the app, review shop-level defaults, complete one real product profile, then enable the theme block and confirm the storefront output before rolling it out across more products.

  1. Open Settings and leave any store-wide field blank unless it genuinely applies across much of the catalog.
  2. Open the Products queue and complete the highest-risk product profiles first.
  3. Save a test product profile with public document URLs and storefront disclosure enabled.
  4. Enable the GPSR theme app block and QA a product template before broader rollout.

What The Shop Defaults Are For

Shop defaults are fallback values for products that share the same manufacturer, EU representative, document base URL, or country of origin. They are not your personal contact details.

If the manufacturer, representative, or origin varies product by product, leave the defaults blank and complete those fields inside each product profile instead.

Theme Block Behavior

The Kedalion GPSR theme app block belongs in the product template. On live product pages, it renders when storefront disclosure is enabled and at least one visible disclosure field is present. In the Shopify theme editor, the block also shows setup guidance if the selected product is not ready yet.

The storefront block is visible to all visitors by default. It can also respect the merchant's optional EU-only visibility preference once the product profile has been saved with that setting.

Visible disclosure fields include manufacturer name, manufacturer address, manufacturer email, EU responsible person name, EU responsible person address, EU responsible person email, country of origin, age restriction, hazard summary, safety warnings, document links, or CE marked status.

FAQ

Who should I enter as the manufacturer?

Enter the real manufacturer of the physical product. This is usually the brand owner, producer, importer, or other manufacturer identified in your product records, not the app provider.

What address should I enter for the manufacturer?

Use the manufacturer business address that belongs on the product's compliance record. If products have different manufacturers, leave the default blank and complete those details per product instead.

What are the EU representative fields?

Those fields are only for the appointed EU responsible person or representative that applies to the relevant products. If the same representative does not apply across the catalog, leave the defaults blank and fill them per product where required.

What is the default document base URL?

Use it only if most manuals, declarations, or safety documents follow a common public hosting pattern. If documents vary product by product, leave it blank and enter document links on the individual product profiles.

What is the default country of origin for?

It is a convenience fallback when a shared country of origin applies across a large part of the catalog. If that is not consistently true, leave it blank and record origin per product instead.

How should the EU-only storefront setting be used?

Use it only when the disclosure block should appear only to visitors shopping from EU countries. Treat the shop setting as the merchant's default, then confirm the product profile has been saved with that visibility choice before testing the storefront. Leave it off for the first setup or review pass.

Troubleshooting

The product save failed

Check the inline banners inside the app first. Kedalion GPSR flags bad email addresses and invalid document URLs directly in the form before saving.

The storefront block is not visible

Confirm storefront disclosure is enabled for the product, at least one visible disclosure field is saved, and the theme app block is placed on the product template being previewed. For the first QA pass, leave EU-only visibility off so the block can be seen from any storefront country.

If the product is using EU-only visibility, test with a storefront country set to an EU market.

The block only shows for some visitors

If the product is configured for EU-only visibility, non-EU storefront sessions should not see the disclosure block. Re-test using a storefront session set to an EU country if you need to confirm the visible state.

The defaults feel repetitive

Set only the shared catalog-level fallbacks at shop level. Product-specific disclosure data still belongs on the product profile, especially when the manufacturer or documents vary by SKU.

Document URL Examples

Use one full public https:// URL per line for manuals, declarations, certificates, or other product safety materials. The app validates URL format before saving, but merchants should still open each link and confirm it is publicly reachable.

Example User Manual URL

https://cdn.example.com/manuals/product-123-user-manual.pdf

Use a stable public URL when linking a product manual so the storefront disclosure can send customers directly to the document.

Example Declaration URL

https://example.com/compliance/product-123-declaration-of-conformity.pdf

Use the same pattern for declarations, certificates, or other product safety materials that must remain publicly reachable.
